Why Pay Scale Research Changed How I Looked at the Trades

A union apprenticeship is not just an entry-level job. It is paid work, training, school, wage progression, and a long-term path.

I grew up thinking college was the main path to a good career. I wish I had understood the trades earlier.

I started with healthcare benefits. Then I found pay scales, scheduled raises, pensions, and a real training path.

I did not hate the work. I was just tired of the way it followed me home.

Getting laid off was scary at first. It also gave me the space to admit I needed a different kind of future.
